2013 Holiday Season operating hours for City facilities and services

Winnipeg, MB - The City of Winnipeg would like to wish you and your family all the best this holiday season.

All civic offices are closed at 12 noon on Tuesday, December 24, 2013 (Christmas Eve), closed on Wednesday, December 25, 2013 (Christmas Day), and closed on Thursday, December 26, 2013 (Boxing Day).

Civic offices will also be closed on Wednesday, January 1, 2014 (New Year’s Day).

Recycling/Garbage Collection Schedule for the Holiday Season

All customers (including single-family homes, apartments and businesses)

• Recycling and garbage collection service will continue as usual on December 24 and December 31.
• There will be no recycling and garbage collection service on December 25 or January 1.

Single-family homes - Adjusted collection schedule
For customers that normally have collection on Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday, please put your recycling and garbage carts out one day later during the weeks of December 23 to 27 and December 30 to January 3.

Christmas Week: December 23 to 27

New Year’s Week: December 30, 2013 to January 3

Apartments and businesses - Collection schedule
For customers with:

• Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday collection - recycling and garbage collection service will be one day later during the weeks with Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
• Saturday collection - no change.

Let’s Chip In Christmas tree recycling Depots

Residents can recycle their real Christmas trees by dropping them off at any of the 11 Let’s Chip In Depots, open from December 27 to January 20.

Please remove all decorations, tinsel, plastic bags, and tree stands before bringing your tree in. Free wood chips will be available at all Let’s Chip In Depots in early January, while quantities last. Please bring your own container to collect your wood chips.

Residents are reminded that trees placed next to recycling or garbage carts will not be collected.

Winnipeg Transit Holiday Service Schedule

Winnipeg Transit will be operating on a Sunday schedule on:

• Wednesday, December 25
• Thursday, December 26
• Wednesday, January 1

Free Ride on New Year’s Eve
Manitoba Public Insurance is once again sponsoring free transit service on December 31, 2013. Leave your vehicle at home this New Year’s Eve and enjoy free Transit starting at 8:00 p.m. until approximately 1:45 a.m. on New Year’s Eve. The Free Ride offer applies to all Regular and Handi-Transit Service.

Cemetery grounds at Brookside, St. Vital and Transcona Cemeteries will be open for visitation from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. daily. During inclement weather, please call 311 before your visit to ensure that the grounds are open.
