Adoptable dogs seek homes in time for the holidays

Winnipeg, MB - There are 36 adoptable dogs at Animal Services who are looking to find loving homes this holiday season. To help these homeless dogs, Animal Services will be holding an Adopt-a-Dog sale on Friday, December 13 from 12 noon to 5:30 p.m., Saturday, December 14 and Sunday, December 15 from 12 noon to 4:30 p.m.

The Animal Services Agency is located at 1057 Logan Avenue, half a block east of McPhillips Street at Warnock Street.

All in-house adult dog adoptions are only $99 and include license, micro-chip, spay/neuter, basic shots, food and pet health insurance.

Animal Services officials remind the public that dogs over six months of age must have and wear a dog license. A dog license makes a great holiday gift for your best friend! Stray dogs found wearing a current license are given a “free ride home” once a year.

Jangle, Riley and Nala are three of the dogs that were picked up by Animal Services as unlicensed strays and are now up for adoption. Jangle is an adorable 8-week old border collie cross. Nala, a one-year-old husky mix, is sweet and playful. And Riley is a handsome two- to three-year-old boxer/lab mix. Come meet all three dogs and more at Animal Services during the Adopt-a-Dog sale this weekend.

In 2012, 927 dogs wearing a current license were reunited by 311 without ever setting foot in the Animal Services’ facility. Dog license tags protect one’s dog and license revenues help provide the essential service of animal control in Winnipeg.
