Winnipeg, MB – Recognizing that residential speeding is a concern for many citizens, the Winnipeg Committee for Safety (WCFS), a citizen-advisory committee to City Council, will be launching the Please Slow Down lawn sign campaign on Friday, June 8, 2018. The aim of this pilot project is to provide friendly reminders to drivers to slow their speeds on residential streets.
Lawn signs will be provided to each Councillor to distribute throughout their respective wards. Citizens interested in getting a sign are encouraged to contact their area Councillor’s office to make arrangements. It will be up to each Councillor’s discretion how they would like to distribute the signs.
Important to note:
- A limited quantity of Please Slow Down signs are available. Signs will be distributed on a first- come, first-served basis.
- Signs have been sponsored by the WCFS and will be available at no cost. Once received, the condition of the sign is the responsibility of the homeowner. Signs can be used year after year.
- Signs must be placed on a homeowner’s lawn. Placing signs on boulevards will violate City of Winnipeg by-laws and will result in signs being removed.
- Citizens are advised that placing Please Slow Down signs on the same side of the street where vehicles are parked will obstruct their view.
