Winnipeg, MB - At a ceremony today, representatives from the Manitoba government and Mayor Brian Bowman joined community members to officially open the Garden City Community Centre multi-pad arena development.
“The investments in this community centre will help Winnipeg residents join teams, play sports and connect with others,” said Minister of Municipal Government Drew Caldwell. “It will give Manitobans a rejuvenated space.”
“The demand and need for ice time has increased in our neighbourhoods, and the new Seven Oaks Arena helps the City of Winnipeg meet the growing recreational needs of our community with an indoor multi-use facility that provides significantly more space for athletics all year round,” said Mayor Brian Bowman. “I am proud that the City of Winnipeg contributed $5.67 million dollars to this important investment, to ensure that the City continues to provide important recreation access as our city grows.”
