Libraries celebrate Family Literacy Day and I Love to Read Month

Winnipeg, MB - Celebrate reading, literacy and lifelong learning at your Winnipeg Public Library for Family Literacy Day on Tuesday, January 27 and during February's I Love to Read Month. The Winnipeg Public Library is offering over 40 free reading and literacy programs for children, teens and families during January and February. The Library is also donating fines and fees collected on January 27 to The Winnipeg Foundation’s Literacy for Life Fund.

Pay your Fines and Fees and Support Family Literacy
In celebration of National Family Literacy Day, all fines and fees collected on Tuesday, January 27 will be donated to The Winnipeg Foundation’s Literacy for Life Fund. The Literacy for Life Fund provides grants to family literacy programs across the city and province, including Winnipeg Public Library. These grants help bring books, storytelling, healthy play, and quality learning to thousands of Manitobans every year.

Family Literacy Celebration
Join us on Tuesday, January 27 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the West End Library (999 Sargent Avenue) for the Family Literacy Celebration event featuring activity stations with stories, games and crafts for families with young children.

Families Love to Read & Count!
Come to St. John’s Library (500 Salter Street) on Thursday, February 12 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. for family-friendly reading and counting activities, and help celebrate this year’s 100th anniversary of St. John’s Library.

Explore at Family Literacy Fun Days
Family Literacy Fun Days are a special library event where families travel between multiple stations taking part in creative activities that promote the playful use of reading, writing and language skills. Each family receives a “passport” that is stamped after each activity is completed. Drop in and participate at your own pace on the following dates:
