Winnipeg, MB - The public is reminded that the Residential Parking Ban continues to be in effect and residents are urged to move their vehicles when their residential street is scheduled for plowing. Removing vehicles on streets scheduled for plowing allows snow clearing crews to work more efficiently and effectively.
Starting at 7:00 p.m. tonight, Wednesday, December 11 and continuing until 7:00 a.m. Thursday, December 12, plowing operations will be conducted on residential streets (P3s) snow zones D, F, H, K, N, Q, T.
Starting at 7:00 a.m. Thursday, December 12 residents of snow zone C will need to move their vehicles as plowing will be underway in this zone until 7:00 p.m. Thursday.
The last shift of the residential parking ban is Thursday, December 12 from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Friday, December 13. During this time, snow zone A will be cleared.
Missed Residential Streets
If some streets in a snow zone have been missed or only partially cleared, crews will return in the coming days to address outstanding snow clearing requirements. In the meantime, residents can park on their street since the Residential Parking Ban only applied during the 12-hour period previously scheduled. When plowing crews return, no additional parking restrictions will be imposed. However, residents are still encouraged to move their vehicles should they notice that their street is about to be plowed.
Residents are encouraged to visit knowyourzone.winnipeg.ca or call 311 to confirm their residential snow zone letter of the alphabet, and to determine when their snow zone is scheduled to be cleared. The public is also encouraged to sign up in advance for email or Twitter notifications through knowyourzone.winnipeg.cato find out when designated snow zones are scheduled for plowing.
For the residential streets that are scheduled, residents are urged to find an alternate place to park such as an off-street driveway or parking lot, or a nearby street that is not currently scheduled for clearing. This will help the snow clearing operation run smoothly and will prevent you from being ticketed and towed.
If motorists are parking on a residential street temporarily during the ban such as to attend an appointment or visit friends and family, they are advised to check if that street is scheduled to be plowed at that time.
Vehicles parked in violation of the residential parking ban will receive a $150 ticket ($75 if paid early), and may be towed to a nearby street that is not scheduled to be plowed or that has already been plowed. If you believe your vehicle may have been towed due to the residential parking ban, please contact 311 for assistance in locating it.
Motorists are reminded to drive to road conditions and to use extreme caution when driving near any plowing or salting/sanding equipment.
