City's Community Centre Renovation Grant program

Winnipeg, MB - Winnipeg Mayor Sam Katz was joined today by members of City Council and representatives of a number of local community centres to announce $392,645 of funding to help with renovations and repairs to several facilities throughout the city.

This is the third round of grants awarded to successful applicants of the Community Centre Renovation Grant Program, which was approved by Council in February, 2012.

“I am proud of this program and what it has meant to our community centres,” said Mayor Katz. “We want to give our busy volunteers the time to concentrate on providing quality programming. Having access to these renovation grants has made it much easier for them to tackle necessary upgrades, such as washrooms, lighting and flooring.”

As part of the Spring 2013 intake process, 13 community centres have been awarded grants. They are:

The program has two intake periods each year: Spring (application deadline of May 1) and Fall (application deadline November 1). In 2013, $803,000 in funding is available for community centres to access to support repairs, upgrades, retrofits, safety improvements and renovation projects. Applicants are eligible for 100% support of project costs to a maximum of $50,000 per project per calendar year.
