Crime Prevention
The Crime Prevention Section of the Winnipeg Police Service is comprised of One Patrol Sergeant, Two Neighborhood Watch Constables and one Business Constable.
One of the units primary roles is to educate the community on residential crime prevention techniques. This is accomplished by providing presentations and getting citizens involved in crime prevention activities such as Neighborhood Watch, Citizens on Patrol, and Citizens for Crime Awareness. The Business Constable is responsible for Business Crime Prevention which is accomplished by providing the presentations to the business community through the Counter Action Program.
The Crime Prevention Officers also perform Community Relations functions by appearing at major events with the Community Caravan, Display Cruiser and "Cuffs" the mascot.
By working together with the community, we can reduce the number of crimes in Winnipeg and increase the quality of life for its citizens.
