Financial assistance

The Winnipeg Police Service has taken the steps to reduce the financial impact to applicants who meet the Low Income Cut off as established by the Federal Government:

Size of family unitHousehold net income
1 person$24,600
2 persons$30,635
3 persons$37,650
4 persons$45,712
5 persons$51,846
6 persons$58,473
7 persons$65,101
More than 7 persons, for each additional person, add$6,628

The above table is derived from the Low Income Cut off (LICO) established by Statistics Canada.

Financial assistance could include offering testing/certifications through internal City of Winnipeg resources or waiving application fees.

Applicants are required to request financial assistance by submitting a copy of the last tax year’s Notice of Assessment as verification of economic need prior to application.

The Notice of Assessment is mailed to you each year after you complete and file your income tax.  If you do not have your most recent copy, the Canada Revenue Agency can send you a replacement copy.  Please contact them at 1-800-959-8281 to request a copy.
