Missing Person – Mark COPENACE C16-59007 - Located

The Winnipeg Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance in locating a missing 39 year old male, Mark COPENACE.  COPENACE was last seen in the downtown area of Winnipeg on Sunday March 20, 2016

COPENACE is described as an Aboriginal male, 6’5, approximately 280 Lbs., with long brown braided hair.  He may be wearing glasses and was last seen wearing black jeans, blue sweater, black converse runners and a black trench coat.

Police are concerned for COPENACE’s well-being and are asking anyone with information regarding his whereabouts to contact the Winnipeg Police Service Missing Persons Unit at 986-6250

 

Missing Person – Joshua TOD – C16-58717- Located

The Winnipeg Police Service is requesting the public’s assistance in locating a missing 10-year-old male, Joshua TOD.

TOD was last seen in the North End area of Winnipeg on Wednesday, March 23rd, 2016.

TOD is described asan Aboriginal male, 4’9” tall, 65 pounds, thin build, black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a black and red sweater and black and blue runners.

The Winnipeg Police Service is concerned for TOD’S well-being and is asking anyone with any information regarding his whereabouts to contact the Winnipeg Police Service Missing Persons Unit at 204-986-6250. 

 

Update - Robbery Investigation Arrests – C16-52786

As previously released - On March 15, 2016, at approximately 7:25 a.m., a 31-year-old female was walking in the area of Sinclair Street and College Avenue while on her way to work when she was confronted from behind by two unknown males.
     
The suspects took hold of the victim and threatened her with a weapon. She was then robbed of various personal items before they fled the area on foot.
     
The victim was not injured and returned home and contacted police. Members of the District 3 Crime Unit were notified and continued to investigate.

Yesterday, surveillance photos were released publicly of two males allegedly involved. As a result of the support from the public and members of the media, both males have been identified and arrested.

Both males are facing robbery and weapon related offences.  

Attempt Murder Arrest – C16-59005

Sometime in mid-March 2016, a 21-year-old male was confronted and chased by an unknown armed male while on his way home in the area of Confusion Corner in the City of Winnipeg.
   
It appears that the armed male suspected and accused the other male of having associations to a rival street-gang. The victim was able to flee the area unharmed.
   
On March 23, 2016, at approximately 8:30 p.m., the two males encountered each other again while in the area of Portage Avenue and Vaughan Street. The suspect approached the victim and displayed a concealed machete.
   
Fearing for his safety, the victim texted a friend who subsequently attended to the area in a vehicle. As the victim approached his friend’s car, the suspect swung the machete narrowly missing him, however striking and damaging the car.
   
The suspect continued to pursue the victim and assaulted him with the machete causing multiple serious injuries.
   
Attending officers located the suspect in the 400 block of St. Mary Avenue and placed him under arrest.
   
The victim is in stable condition.
   
Members of the Division 11 Crime Unit continued the investigation
   
A 16-year-old male has been charged with the following offences:
   
  Attempt to Commit Murder
  Assault with a Weapon
  Mischief Under $5000.00
  Possession of a Weapon x 2
  Possession of Scheduled Substance – Marihuana
  Fail to Comply with Sentence x 2
   
He was remanded into custody.
