Winnipeg Police Service Media Release
For Immediate Release
Homicide
On December 3rd, 2009 at approximately 6:05 p.m., uniform members were dispatched to the area of the 800 block of Main Street regarding an injured male.
Attending members located the male who appeared to have been stabbed to the upper body. The victim was conveyed to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Jessie Jules Pierre MCKENZIE, 17 years succumbed to injuries as a result of the incident.
The investigation has revealed that the victim was in the company of a male friend at which time they encountered two other suspect males.
After the incident, the two suspect males fled the scene as did the male friend who was in the company of the victim at the time of the incident.
The suspects are described as: Males, 600 in height, wearing: baggy jeans, black jackets and dark toques.
The investigation has also revealed that a witness who left the scene prior to police arrival may possess valuable information regarding the incident. The witness is described as: Male, Caucasian, 40-60 years of age, 55-56 in height, short grey or white hair, heavy build, wearing: large glasses, old dark blue baseball cap, dark bomber style jacket.
Police are also attempting to locate and interview the victims male friend who fled the scene and encourage him to contact investigators.
The investigation is continuing by members of the Homicide Unit.

Grow Operation Arrests
On December 3rd, 2009 at approximately 7:30 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service Drug Unit with the assistance of the Vice Unit executed a Controlled Drug and Substance Act Search Warrant at a residence in the first 100 block of Shalimar Crescent.
As a result of the search, a grow operation consisting of approximately 693 cannabis marihuana plants were discovered with an estimated street value of over $775,000.00.
Officers also located approximately 13 pounds of dried cannabis marihuana with an estimated street value of a $32,500.00, including $12,000.00 worth of grow operation equipment.
Approximately $6,970.00 in Canadian currency was also located and seized.
At the time the search warrant was executed, a 39 year old male and 35 year old female were arrested.
They area facing the following charges: Possess for the Purpose of Trafficking, Production of Cannabis Marihuana and Possess Proceeds of Crime.
They have been released on a Promise to Appear.
Indecent Acts
On December 2nd, 2009 at approximately 8:40 a.m., a 15 year old female was walking in the area of Osborne Street and Brandon Avenue when she was approached from behind by a male on a bike.
As the suspect passed the victim, he looked in her direction and subsequently exposed himself. The suspect fled the area and the victim continued on her way and notified police.
On the same date at approximately 8:45 a.m., a 38 year old female was walking in the 400 block Osborne Street when she was approached by the suspect on a bike. The suspect looked at the victim while exposing himself. He fled the area in a northbound direction.
The suspect is described as: Male, Caucasian, late 20s early 30s, slim to medium build, reddish blonde hair and fair complexion, wearing: a dark toque, beige camouflage puffy winter jacket with hood, black sweatpants with a thin white stripe on each leg and a black backpack with black and white checked flags on the back.
The suspect bike is described as: a dark coloured BMX style bike.
The investigation is continuing by members of the District 6 Crime Unit.

Homicide - Update
As previously released, on December 3rd, 2009 at approximately 6:05 p.m., uniform members were dispatched to the area of the 800 block of Main Street regarding an injured male.
Attending members located the male who appeared to have been stabbed to the upper body. The victim was conveyed to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
A 17 year old male succumbed to injuries as a result of the incident.
As indicated, the victim was in the company of a male friend at the time of the incident. This male has since been located by police and identified as a 16 year old male.
Further information has since revealed that the victim and male friend encountered a male suspect who was with a female. The male and female appeared to have been involved in a domestic related dispute at which time the male suspect set upon the victim in an unprovoked attack and stabbed him to the upper body.
The male suspect is described as: Aboriginal in appearance, 20s to early 30s, 59"-6 in height and averge build, wearing: dark clothing and in possession of a knife.
The female is described as: Aboriginal in appearance, 53- 57 in height, long dark hair in a ponytail and average build, wearing: all white (or light coloured) clothing - white jacket, white pants, and white shoes.
All parties fled the scene leaving the victim behind.
The investigation is continuing by members of the Homicide Unit.

Public's Assistance Required
On December 3rd, 2009 at approximately 5:15 p.m., uniform members were dispatched to a business in the area of the 600 block of Sargent Avenue regarding a female causing a disturbance.
Upon police arrival, members located a female requiring medical assistance. Emergency Services were immediately notified and the female was transported to hospital in serious but stable condition.
The investigation continued by members of the District 1 Crime Unit.
At this stage of the investigation, the female has not been positively identified. Investigators are requesting the public assistance in identifying the female described as follows:
- Aboriginal in appearance
- 25-30 years of age
- 55 in height
- Heavy build
- Long black hair
- Tattoos on left hand
- Black and Red Puma Parka
- Black Pants
- Pink and Brown Striped Shirt
- Black NFL Sweatshirt
- Grey and Black Shoes
The female remains in hospital in serious condition.
