Winnipeg Police Service Media Release
For Immediate Release
Robbery
On April 26th, shortly after 9:00 P.M., a 16 year old male was in the area of Redonda Street and Victoria Avenue when he was approached by two males who were armed with a handgun and baseball bat. They demanded, and received his personal property and fled on foot.
The 16 year old male victim was not injured.
The suspects are described as:
#1: Aboriginal in appearance, 16 years of age, 5’9” tall, muscular build, wearing a gray baseball hat on backwards, gray sweater and armed with a black handgun.
#2: Caucasian male, 16 years of age, 5’11” tall with short blonde hair, wearing an orange and yellow sweater.
The East District Crime Unit is currently investigating this incident and anyone with information is asked to call 204-986-2857 or Crimestoppers at 204-786-8477.
Robbery
On April 27th, 2009, around 2:30 A.M., an 18 year old female was walking in the area of Flora Avenue and Robinson Street when she was approached by a male who was armed with a handgun and demanded, and received, her personal property then fled on foot.
The 18 year old female victim was not injured.
The suspect is described as:
Aboriginal in appearance, 23-24 years of age, 6’ tall, between 160-170 lbs, clean shaven, wearing dark coloured hat, white hoodie, and blue jeans and armed with a black handgun.
The Division #13 Crime Unit is currently investigating this incident and anyone with information is asked to call 204-986-2849 or Crimestoppers at 204-786-8477.
Robbery - Arrest
On April 27th, 2009, shortly before 4:00 A.M., a male armed with a baseball bat and knife attended to a business in the 800 block of Ellice Avenue where he approached the clerk and demanded cigarettes.
The clerk activated a security device and stalled the male by answering the phone when it rang. The male then grabbed a small bottle from the counter and fled on foot.
Winnipeg Police Service uniformed members observed the male exiting the store and placed him under arrest after a short foot pursuit.
The Major Crimes Unit is currently investigating this incident and a 21 year old male is facing Robbery charges.
Robbery - Arrest
On April 25th, 2009, around 5:00 A.M., a 24 year old female was walking in the area of Main Street and Sutherland Avenue when she was approached by a male and female. The male produced a knife and demanded and received her personal property and both then fled on foot.
The 24 year old female victim was not injured and contacted police.
Uniformed members of the Winnipeg Police Service responding to this incident located two suspects nearby that matched the descriptions provided by the victim and they were taken into custody.
Danielle Amber HOULE, 21 years of age of Winnipeg has been charged with Robbery with Weapon.
Geordie Delmar JAMES, 24 years of age of Winnipeg has been charged with Robbery with weapon and Breach of Probation.
Both were detained in custody.
Robbery - Arrests
On April 24th, 2009, shortly after 2:00 A.M., a taxi picked up three males from the area of Keewatin Street and Alexander Avenue and drove them to the 600 block of Boyd Avenue where a dispute started over the cost of the fare. One of the males assaulted and threatened the taxi driver and stole cash from him. All three then fled on foot.
Winnipeg Police were contacted and with the assistance of the Canine Unit three males were arrested a short time later in the 500 block of College Avenue.
A 15 year old male youth is facing charges of Robbery. He was released on a Promise to Appear.
Byron Cory KENNEDY, 21 years of Winnipeg has been charged with Robbery.
Coel David LANGLOIS, 20 years of Winnipeg has been charged with Robbery and Utter Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm.
KENNEDY and LANGLOIS were both detained in custody.
The 31 year old taxi driver received minor injuries.
