Extremely high winds are creating hazardous conditions in the downtown area. The wind has blown out windows in some buildings in the area of Smith Street. Winds are also causing construction related material to be blown off Manitoba Hydro’s new downtown office.

As a result, Portage Avenue is closed in both directions between Kennedy Street and Carlton Street, and Smith Street is closed between Portage Avenue and Graham Avenue.
