Winnipeg Police Service Media Release
For Immediate Release

 

Firearm Seen

On September 30th, 2006, shortly before 3:00 a.m. several males were observed to enter a residence in the 300 block of Logan Avenue armed with what was believed to be firearms. Members of the Winnipeg Police Service cordoned off the area and attempted to contact the occupants of the residence and instruct them to exit the residence.

Several occupants of the residence exited upon request. Winnipeg Police Service members entered and searched the residence locating one male who is currently in custody. A shot gun was located in the residence and has been seized.

The investigation is continuing.

 

Armed Robbery

On September 27th, 2006, the Winnipeg Police Service released information regarding the robbery of the Salisbury House Restaurant located at St Annes Road and Fermor Avenue. Two disguised males entered the restaurant armed with a gun and a knife. The patrons of the restaurant were forced to lie on the floor at which time the suspects allegedly went from person to person, physically assaulting them and taking their money.

The first suspect is described as a Caucasian male in his early 20's, 6'2”, 200 pounds, wearing a white baseball cap, black scarf covering his face, a blue shirt, baggy blue jeans and white runners.

The second male who was armed with a knife is described as Aboriginal in appearance with dark shaved hair, dark eyes and bushy eyebrows. He was wearing a black scarf covering most of his face, baggy blue jeans and white runners.

A number of patrons sustained minor injuries and medical attention was not required.

The Winnipeg Police Service again is requesting anyone who may have information regarding the suspects or who may have witnessed the incident to contact the Major Crimes Unit at 204-986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).

 

Firearms Incident

On September 28th, 2006, a 19 year old male was dropped off by a cab driver in the 600 block of Flora Avenue shortly after 11:00 a.m. It is alleged that a dispute over payment occurred and the 19 year old male threatened the cab driver with a firearm.

Members of the Winnipeg Police Service attended to an address in the 600 block of Flora Avenue that the suspect male was observed to enter and cordoned off the area. Contact was made with the occupants of the home and eight individuals exited the house without incident. Officers searched the residence and located a pellet pistol and a loaded sawed-off shot gun.

Abraham Lagimodiere, 19 years of age, of Winnipeg has been charged with Careless Use of Firearm, Possession of a Firearm While Prohibited, Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose, Robbery with Intent, Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Firearm and Fail to Comply with Conditions of Recognizance. A 49 year old female is also facing weapons charges.

 

Weapons Incident

On September 29th, 2006, shortly before 6:30 p.m. members of the Winnipeg Police Service attended to an address in the 100 block of Barber Street for a male armed with a knife. Officers located a 23 year old male who had armed himself with a knife and attempted to barricade himself in the washroom.

All attempts by officers to safely disarm the individual were unsuccessful and Winnipeg Police Service specialty units including the Emergency Response Unit attended. Members of the Emergency Response Unit were successful in safely disarming the male who was taken into custody.

Hugh Lloyd Ducharme, 23 years of age, of Winnipeg has been charged with Possess Cocaine and Failing to Comply with a Recognizance X 2 and has been detained at the Winnipeg Remand Centre.
