Homicide

On April 30th, 2006 at 2:35 a.m., police attended to the front of 441 Main Street where a male had been stabbed in the upper body.

The twenty-four year old victim was conveyed to hospital in critical condition where he succumbed to his injuries. 

There is currently no suspect in custody.

The Winnipeg Police Service Homicide Unit is currently investigating the matter and police are requesting anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information regarding the matter contact the Homicide Unit at 204-986-6508.

 

Shots Fired at Residence

On April 30th, 2006 at 7:15 a.m., police responded to a residence in the 300 block of Pacific Avenue in response to shots being fired into the residence.

It is believed that a male was injured as a result of the shots however the victim has not been located at this time.

A number of people were seen fleeing the area after the shots were fired and may be in possession of a shot gun.

The Winnipeg Police Service District 1 detectives are currently investigating the incident and police are requesting anyone with information pertaining to the victim or the incident contact police at 204-986-6668 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).

 

Female Seriously Assaulted

On April 30th, 2006 at 12:15 a.m., a twenty-eight year old female was at a bar in the 800 block of Main Street where she was approached by an unknown female and cut in the upper body.

The victim was conveyed to hospital in unstable condition where she was treated and has since been upgraded to stable condition.

The suspect is described as a female, Aboriginal in appearance, 5'6”-5'7” tall, medium build with long hair, wearing a dark colored long sleeved shirt and dark pants.

The Winnipeg Police Service is requesting anyone with information regarding the incident contact District 3 detectives at 204-986-2848 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS(8477).

 

Child Injured at Playground

On April 29th, 2006 at 2:40 p.m., a five year old male was playing on a play structure in the first 100 block of Ellen Street where he accidentally injured himself with a rope.

The child was conveyed to hospital in critical condition and remains in critical condition at this time.

Update

The Winnipeg Police Service reported earlier that a child injured himself while playing on a play structure in the first 100 block of Ellen Street and was in critical condition at hospital.

The child has been upgraded to stable condition and remains in hospital at this time.

The Winnipeg Police Service is asking parents to remind their children to play safely when on play structures. Children should use play structure equipment as it was designed to be used and equipment should not be modified in any way.
