Serious Motor Vehicle Collision

This morning at 5:30 a.m., a serious motor vehicle collision involving a single vehicle occurred at the intersection of Grassie Boulevard and Plessis Road.

As a result of the collision, the following road closures are in effect until further notice:

  • Grassie Boulevard at McLennen Road
  • Gunn Road at Plessis Road
  • Cordite Road at Plessis Road

Traffic collision analysts are on scene and the investigation is ongoing by the Winnipeg Police Service Traffic Division.

Update

Further to this morning's serious motor vehicle collision at Grassie Boulevard and Plessis Road, all roads have been reopened to traffic.

The Ford Explorer driven by a thirty-year old male was traveling eastbound on Grassie Boulevard when the driver failed to stop at a T-intersection stop sign at Plessis Road. The vehicle continued across Plessis and collided with the ditch.

Two female passengers in the vehicle, aged twenty-nine and thirty-two years of age, sustained life-threatening injuries and remain in critical condition. The driver was conveyed to hospital in unstable condition and has since been upgraded to stable condition. A twenty year old male passenger in the vehicle was transported to hospital in stable condition.

It is unknown at this time if alcohol or speed was a factor in the collision and the investigation is continuing by the Winnipeg Police Service Traffic Division.

 

Stabbing

On March 30th, 2006 at 9:00 p.m., the thirty-three year old male victim and a friend were visiting an acquaintance at a residence in the 400 block of Assiniboine Avenue. The victim became involved in a verbal dispute with a male in the suite which escalated to a physical altercation resulting in the victim being cut and stabbed by the male.

The victim was conveyed to hospital in stable condition where he was treated for his injuries.

A twenty-two year old male is being sought in connection with the incident and the investigation is continuing by the Winnipeg Police Service District 1 detectives.
