Shooting Incident Leads to Arrest
At approximately 11:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening a confrontation occurred between two known males on the street in the area of Charles Street and Dufferin Avenue. This confrontation was a result of an on-going dispute between the males over matters not clear to police. They parted ways and at approximately 2:00 a.m. Wednesday morning, the suspect returned to the area armed with a .22 rifle. The suspect came across the victim and two of his friends at Charles Street and Flora Avenue and at that point the suspect proceeded to fire a shot at the 18 year-old-male victim, striking the victim in the back. The suspect then fled the area and the victim was discovered by a police cruiser as he made his way home on foot. The victim was conveyed to hospital and underwent surgery to remove the bullet. He remains in stable condition, and awaits police interview.
Later in the day, Detectives from the District # 3 station arrested a male in the 300 block of Pritchard Avenue and recovered the weapon allegedly used in this offence. Charged with Attempt Murder, Cause Bodily Harm with Firearm, and a host of weapons related offences is Cory Lee PRINCE, 21 years, of Winnipeg. He was detained in custody.
Female Arrested After Attempt To Run Over Officer
On March 27th, members of the Winnipeg Police Service attended to a residence in the 1000 block of Aberdeen Avenue in order to execute a search warrant. As officers arrived at the residence, a male fled to a waiting car driven by a female. As she sped away she was ordered to stop and failed to do so. She allegedly drove directly at a uniformed member who was standing on a snow bank on the side of the road, narrowly missing that member who had to jump out of the way.
As a result of the investigation, police arrested this female yesterday at a downtown address. Charged with Drive Dangerous, Drive Suspended and Assault with a Weapon is Christine ICBAN, 21 years, of Winnipeg. She was detained in custody.
Female Victim of a Robbery
Yesterday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. a 47 year-old-female was walking home from her bank in the area of downtowns Central Park. She was approached by two males who were not known to her and while one of these males pushed her to the ground, the other reached into her breast pocket and removed her wallet containing Identification and cash. The males then fled on foot. The female did not require medical attention.
The suspects in this incident are described as:
- A male, Aboriginal in appearance, 18-21 years-of-age, 5’9”, 140 pounds, slim build, short hair, wearing a baseball cap and blue jeans.
- A black male, in his twenties, 5’7”, 140 lb, wearing a grey hooded top.
