June 8, 2015 - From September 28 to October 2, 2014 Winnipeg hosted the International Association of Women Police (IAWP) 52nd Training Conference. The event attracted 602 international delegates from 51 different countries as well as 230 speakers, sponsors and local vendors.

The IAWP represents the interests of policewomen throughout the world with members in 57 countries. The organization's mission is to strengthen, unite and raise the profile of women working in law enforcement. The IAWP is committed to further enhancing its member’s skills through professional development, training, recognition, mentoring, networking and peer support.

On June 2, 2015 the event organizers, comprised of members of the Winnipeg Police Service, RCMP “D” Division and the Brandon Police Service, were honoured by Tourism Winnipeg for their efforts in hosting the Conference.  They were presented with the “Bring It Home Award”, which is given annually to an individual, organization or business that has increased visitation to Winnipeg by bringing a meeting, convention or event to our City.

The Bring It Home award was presented as part of the Winnipeg Tourism Awards of Distinction event, designed to allow Winnipeg’s tourism industry to recognize those people, places, organizations and events that have gone above and beyond to offer a superior tourism experience to travelers in Winnipeg.
