On April 20, 2024, at approximately 8:00 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service received multiple reports of a passenger vehicle being operated erratically in the city’s West End.

At approximately 9:05 p.m., patrolling West District General Patrol officers observed the 2019 Honda Civic in the River Heights area being driven dangerously, placing other motorists and the general public at risk. Officers initiated a follow of the vehicle in an attempt to bring the vehicle to a stop; however, the driver continued to drive erratically to evade police.

Shortly after, officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop at Laxdal Road and Ridgewood Avenue when the driver accelerated and rammed the police vehicle before speeding away. Members of Air1 maintained visual containment of the vehicle and guided ground units as the vehicle continued to drive erratically in the Charleswood area.

At approximately 9:15 p.m., the vehicle jumped a raised median concrete curb near Roblin Boulevard and Greenbrier Avenue, causing significant damage and rendering it inoperable. The driver exited the vehicle, and officers safely placed the adult female under arrest. Neither the driver, two adult passengers, nor the officers involved reported any injuries due to the incident.

A 25-year-old female from Winnipeg is facing the following charges:

- Assault a Peace Officer with a Weapon x 2
- Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance

- Flight while Pursued by Peace Officer

- Operation of a Conveyance While Impaired to Any Degree by BAC or Drug or a Combination of Both

- Fail or Refuse to Comply with Demand

She was released by way of an Appearance Notice as mandated by the Criminal Code.
