Arson – Arrest: C24-41558

A 23-year-old male has been arrested regarding an arson-theft incident at Red River College in the 100 block of Princess Street that occurred on February 23, 2024.

The Major Crimes Unit took over the investigation after receiving a report about an individual stealing thousands of dollars worth of electronic equipment from the school and setting fire to the premises midday while staff and students were present.

The building was evacuated, and nobody was injured.

Video surveillance assisted in identifying the suspect, and a subsequent fire and police investigation determined the fire was deliberately set.

On April 18, Treysten PORTEOUS was located near Main/Logan and charged with the following offences:

- Arson with Disregard for Human Life

- Arson Causing Damage to Property

- Theft Over $5000

 He was detained in custody.
