Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responds to fires on Manitoba Avenue and Delorme Bay

Winnipeg, MB – Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) crews recently responded to two fires.

Manitoba Avenue fire
WFPS crews responded to reports of fire at a two-storey converted residential dwelling in the 300 block of Manitoba Avenue twice.

The first call came in at 5:44 p.m. on Monday, April 15. When crews arrived on scene, smoke was coming from the structure. They launched an interior fire attack, using hose lines and a fire suppression tool to put the flames out. The fire was under control at 6:48 p.m.

Crews responded again at 2:22 a.m. on Tuesday, April 16, after fire was found during a fire watch check. Firefighters entered the building to put the fire out, declaring it under control at 3 a.m.

The dwelling was unoccupied and boarded up due to a previous fire on March 27, 2024.

No injuries were reported. Damage estimates are not available at this time.

The cause of both fires remains under investigation.

Delorme Bay fire
At 1:32 p.m. on Tuesday, April 16, WFPS crews responded to reports of fire at a single-storey dwelling in the first 100 block of Delorme Avenue.

When crews arrived on scene, light smoke was coming from the house. They entered the building and launched an interior fire attack. The fire was quickly put out, and was declared under control at 2 p.m.

Occupants of the home self-evacuated before crews arrived on scene. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
