On March 21, 2024, North District General Patrol officers of the Winnipeg Police Service, while investigating an unrelated matter, came into contact with an adult male wanted in relation to a series of thefts and robberies from grocery stores within the city. Officers arrested him on the strength of three separate warrants in his name.

He was turned over to members of the Property Crime Unit, who continued the investigation.

Earlier in their investigation, investigators identified the suspect believed to be involved as 32-year-old Keifer Mitchell Davis KENT and linked him to over two dozen incidents. In almost all the incidents, the suspect would target various chain grocery stores across the city and proceed to steal large quantities of mainly meat products. In many of the incidents, the suspect would physically assault security or store employees and threaten them with bear spray or sharp-edged weapons.

The financial loss to the various grocery retailers is estimated at over $10,000.

No injuries were reported due to the reported robbery/theft incidents.

KENT is charged with the following offences:

- Robbery x 7
- Theft Under $5,000 x 18

- Fail to Comply with Condition of Undertaking x 3

He was detained in police custody.
