Homicide Investigation - Arrest: C23-302231

Released: December 19, 2023 at 9:44 a.m.

As previously released, on December 15, 2023, at approximately 1:00 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the 200 block of Graham Avenue for the report of a female who had been stabbed.

Officers quickly arrived and located a female youth victim suffering from injuries sustained from a stabbing. Emergency medical care was provided, and the youth was transported to hospital in critical condition and underwent emergency surgery. She succumbed to her injuries and has been identified as a 14-year-old female.

The Homicide Unit continued the investigation.

It has been determined that the victim was in the company of two females and a male known to her. A verbal argument erupted between the victim and the male, who suddenly produced a knife. The victim was stabbed multiple times, and the suspect fled.

Due to investigative efforts, the male suspect was identified and arrested on December 18, 2023, in the area of Provencher Boulevard and Des Meurons Street.

A 17-year-old male has been charged with 2nd Degree Murder and detained in custody.
