Building Bridges: Mayor Introduces New Multi Faith and Culture Liaison Circle

Released: August 1, 2023 at 12:38 p.m.

To build better connections between the City of Winnipeg and its rich mix of communities, Mayor Scott Gillingham has introduced the Mayor’s Multi Faith and Culture Liaison Circle.

"Winnipeg is a city of bridges – not only the physical spans that connect our neighbourhoods across rivers and railroads, but the bridges of understanding and respect we build between one another," said Mayor Gillingham. "The Multi Faith and Culture Liaison Circle is an embodiment of these bridges. It's about ensuring voices from our diverse faith and cultural communities are heard and have a role in shaping our city's future. And it takes advantage of the established networks that exist in these communities."

The Circle will liaise with the Mayor’s Office to develop and promote partnerships to address societal issues such as homelessness, hunger, and inequity; offer insight on outreach and delivery of City programs; and identify potential education opportunities for City staff and citizens.

The members of the committee are:
