Firearms Investigation - Arrest: R19-75209

On November 7, 2019, officers received information that a male wanted on a Canada wide warrant was in attendance at the funeral of Jamshaid Wahabi, the victim of a homicide on November 2, 2019.

Following the funeral, members of the Tactical Support Unit conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle containing the suspect and three other males. The suspect was located in the rear of the vehicle and taken into custody. At time his arrest, a .50 calibre dessert eagle semi-automatic handgun was located in his possession.

Rami Hagos, a 24-year-old of Winnipeg was arrested on the strength of a warrant for Attempt Murder and a number of related charges.

He has been detained in custody.

Through the course of the investigation, officers learned the firearm was registered and obtained a search warrant at the owner's residence.

On November 8, 2019 the search warrant was executed at a residence on Marine Drive. Officers seized a total of 22 firearms from the residence, including four .50 calibre dessert eagle semi-automatic handguns. Officers discovered one firearm was missing from the collection. It has been determined that this was the firearm previously located upon the arrest of Rami Hagos.

A 40-year-old male of Winnipeg has been charged with numerous firearms offences was detained.
