Public invited to provide input on the redevelopment of Sister MacNamara Park

Released: January 24, 2018 at 2 p.m.

Winnipeg, MB - Winnipeggers are invited to attend a public workshop on February 5 to provide feedback on redeveloping the site of a decommissioned wading pool in Sister MacNamara Park.

The Sister MacNamara Wading Pool was decommissioned in fall 2017 after reaching the end of its serviceable life. The Council-adopted Recreation, Leisure and Library Facility Policy specifies that older wading pools will be replaced over time with the introduction of a better wading pools or spray pads in the vicinity. Construction of a new spray pad at the nearby Freight House Recreation Centre is underway, and is planned to be open to the public in the summer of 2018.

The City intends to restore the Sister MacNamara Park wading pool site to green space and is looking to the public for input into park amenities that should replace the former wading pool.

The City wants to hear from the public to help determine future park enhancements at Sister MacNamara Park. The public can provide input through an online survey, or through an in-person workshop. The online survey will be open until February 9, 2018. The in-person public workshop will be held:

Date: Monday, February 5, 2018
Time: 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Location: Pinkham School, 765 Pacific Ave.
Format: Brief presentation at 6 p.m., followed by table discussions

Those interested in attending are asked to RSVP. For more information, please visit winnipeg.ca/SisterMacNamaraPark.
