Vehicles for hire stakeholders invited to attend information sessions on the taxicab license lottery and dispatcher licensing

Winnipeg, MB - The City of Winnipeg is inviting stakeholders in the vehicles for hire industry to attend information sessions to learn more about the City's processes and requirements for the taxicab license lottery and dispatcher licensing.

Information Session 1: Vehicles for Hire Taxicab License Lottery
Council approved the issuance of 60 year round taxicab licenses effective March 1, 2018 with another 60 year round taxicab licenses effective December 1, 2018, all to be allocated through a lottery. The lottery application process, drawing process, and waiting list will be explained at this information session.

Date: Monday, January 29, 2018
Time: 1 p.m. – 3 p.m.
Location: Fort Rouge Leisure Centre, 625 Osborne Street
Format: Presentation at 1:15 p.m., followed by question and answer discussions

Information Session 2: Dispatcher Licenses and Requirements
The Vehicle for Hire By-law requires that all vehicles for hire be associated with a dispatcher and that all dispatchers hold a dispatcher license. Current dispatchers and potential dispatchers are invited to learn more about the application process and the requirements on dispatchers under the By-law.

Format: Presentation at 3:15 p.m., followed by question and answer discussions
