Released: November 4, 2017 at 3:11 p.m.
Motorists are urged to use extra caution and to drive to winter conditions

Winnipeg, MB – The City of Winnipeg will begin plowing priority one and two streets tonight at 7 p.m. Sidewalks and active transportation pathways on major streets and collector/bus routes will be plowed beginning Sunday morning at 7 a.m.

There are no winter parking bans currently in effect.

Crews began anti-icing activities on bridges and underpasses last night in anticipation of today’s snowfall. Salting trucks have been out on major and collector routes throughout the day to improve traction.

Drivers are advised to:

  • factor in additional travel time to get to destinations
  • slow down to a safe travel speed for winter conditions
  • allow appropriate stopping distances
  • stay back and stay safe from heavy equipment that is working
