Reminder: recycling, garbage and yard waste collection schedules are changing for some residents next week

Released: September 28, 2017 at 2:25 p.m.

Winnipeg, MB – Residents are reminded that recycling, garbage and yard waste collection schedules are changing for some next week. Changes will take effect starting Monday, October 2, 2017.

All residents should have received a notice in the mail to advise them of their collection day. Residents can also visit City of Winnipeg – Collection Day or download the free My Waste app to find out if their collection day is changing and to set collection reminders.

All residents are reminded to put their carts and yard waste out before 7 a.m. on their collection day, and keep the carts at least an arm’s length apart and away from other obstacles.

The changes are related to a new seven-year collection contract. The City is confident that the new collection contract, which is shared between two different contractors, will be more efficient and provide the best possible collection service for the City and its residents. Collection service for City metal bins will not be changing at this time.
