Winnipeg, MB – Jennifer Still has been selected as Winnipeg Public Library’s Writer-in-Residence for 2017-2018.
Still is an award-winning Winnipeg poet who explores intersections of language and aesthetics. She has served as a mentor to many emerging writers as Writer-in-Residence at the University of Manitoba’s Centre for Creative Writing and Oral Culture and The University of Winnipeg's Carol Shields’ Writer-in-Residence program, in addition to the Manitoba Writers’ Guild’s Sheldon Oberman Mentorship Program. She is also a poetry editor for Canada's longest-running poetry journal, CV2.
“I consider mentorship to be a respectful and creative act of listening that urges a writer toward insights and connections they might not have considered as quickly on their own,” said Still. She is excited to engage with Winnipeg's vibrant new and emerging literary makers.
The Writer-in-Residence will provide online and in-person consultation with emerging and established writers of all genres from an office located at Millennium Library. Manuscripts for review can be submitted by email or by mail starting Monday, October 2, 2017. Still’s term as Writer-in-Residence at Winnipeg Public Library runs until April 30, 2018.
