Temporary closure of Peguis Street for railway crossing and roadway improvements

Released: September 22, 2017 at 9:30 a.m.
Transit reroutes in effect for duration of project

Winnipeg – The public is advised that Peguis Street from Prairie Crocus Drive to south of Concordia Avenue East will be completely closed from Monday, September 25 to November 13 for major railway track work and widening of Peguis Street over the railway. The extension of the asphalt path along the west side of Peguis Street up to Concordia Avenue East will also occur during the closure.

As a result of the closure, access to apartments located at 545, 535, and 525 Peguis Street will be limited to the north entrance. There are currently two driveways off Peguis Street that provide access to the three buildings. Once the south driveway is closed to allow road construction, the north driveway can be used to access all three buildings via a rear aisle in the parking lot.

For passengers who live along Peguis Street between Prairie Crocus Drive and Regent Avenue, please note that the Route 44 Grey service will be diverted off Peguis Street due to the closure. Winnipeg Transit will be operating a shuttle service at regular Route 44 stops along Peguis Street that will run from Kildonan Place along Peguis Street to Prairie Crocus Drive and back to Kildonan Place to make connections with Routes 42, 43, 44, 45, 46, 47, 75, 77, 85, 87, 90, and 92. The shuttle will operate from Kildonan Place every 20 minutes from 5:30 a.m. to 1:30 a.m. Monday to Saturday, and from 6:30 a.m. to 12:30 a.m. on Sundays.
