Winnipeg, MB – Beginning Sunday, September 3, 2017, Route 86 and 33 customers will see significant changes designed to improve reliability and extend service to new and expanding neighbourhoods in Bridgwater Centre, Bridgwater Lakes and northwest Winnipeg.
“We welcome feedback on Transit routes, and are always striving to improve bus service,” said Janice Lukes, City Councillor for St. Norbert. “As Winnipeg’s south end continues to grow, we are pleased to provide options that meet the needs of our residents.”
Route 86 customers will see changes that include all-day service into Bridgwater Centre, Bridgwater Lakes along with improved frequency of service to key destinations. Passengers will enjoy better transfer connections to other parts of the city including the Southwest Transitway at Fort Rouge Station, where customers can take advantage of many passenger amenities, including heated shelters and secure bike lockers.
“The 33 Maples transit bus is being extended into Amber Trails, bringing all-day everyday bus service right through the heart of our neighbourhood,” said Devi Sharma, City Councillor for Old Kildonan. “With continued growth in our area, more bus service was needed. This is an exciting development for Amber Trails and is part of the City’s continuous commitment to provide top-quality transit service to all of our citizens.”
Route 33 customers will see improved bus frequency with a reduction in the time between buses of up to seven minutes. Route 33 customers will also enjoy improved connections at Portage and Fort and Portage and Garry. Service coverage will be extended into the Amber Trails area on the Jefferson and Mapleglen legs.
