Drivers can enjoy the PayByPhone app’s convenience for free as the City of Winnipeg has absorbed the service charge at on-street locations and surface parking lots

Winnipeg, MB – The Winnipeg Parking Authority (WPA) has removed the service charge to use PayByPhone at the City of Winnipeg’s on-street locations and surface parking lots. This exciting initiative gives motorists free access to use the world’s leading parking app. The strategic move by the WPA will reduce the City’s reliance on costly parking infrastructure, such as meters, while encouraging service adoption - a model that has seen success across other major metropolitan hubs like Vancouver, Seattle and San Francisco.

With citywide coverage, the PayByPhone app already processes over 40,000 parking transactions per month in Winnipeg. Motorists can also enjoy added benefits when parking with the app, including parking reminders and the opportunity to extend from any location, reducing the risk of receiving a parking ticket.

“PayByPhone is the most convenient way to pay for parking,” said Donna Olson, WPA Manager of Operations. “We are excited to waive the transaction fee for drivers so that now you’re just paying for parking.”

To celebrate the fees’ removal, PayByPhone is giving drivers the chance to win an Apple Watch, along with other great prizes including tickets to a hockey game throughout the campaign period. Full sweepstakes details can be found at www.paybyphone.com/winnipeg. The app can be downloaded for free on the iOS App Store or the Google Play Store.

PayByPhone. The best way to pay for parking anywhere, anytime and any occasion.
