Extended hours offered for homeowner construction-related permit applications and inspections

Released: June 6, 2017 at 10:10 a.m.

Winnipeg, MB - Recently, the City of Winnipeg’s Permits Office began offering extended hours of operation to better fit the needs of Winnipeg homeowners.

“We recently launched a new customer service initiative for homeowner inspections because we recognize that homeowners sometimes need flexibility in arranging for inspections,” says Stan Dueck, Manager of Development and Inspections for the City of Winnipeg. “We are pleased to offer homeowners the option of booking inspection appointments on selected evenings and Saturdays.”

Inspections for homeowner permits are available during the following times:

  • Mondays and Tuesdays: 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays: 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.*
  • Saturdays: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.*

*Appointments for extended hours inspections are available for homeowners only. To schedule an appointment, please email or call 204-986-5300.

As well, beginning on June 7, the Permits Office, located at Unit 31 - 30 Fort Street, will be open from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesdays for homeowner permit applications (in addition to regular 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. hours still in effect from Tuesday to Friday).

This change in operation will help to provide service to homeowners who want to book appointments to submit building permit applications, for walk-in customers who want to apply for homeowner plumbing and electrical permits, or for anyone who wants to pick up their issued permit.

“The convenience of extended hours, coupled with recent fee reductions for most home renovation permits such as building, electrical, plumbing, and decks, enables us to be more responsive to our customers,” adds Dueck.
