Free Secondary Suites Panel Discussion Offered February 25, 2017

Released: February 8, 2017 at 12:47 p.m.

Winnipeg, MB - The City of Winnipeg is pleased to offer a free, interactive panel discussion about building Secondary Suites as part of the City of Winnipeg Housing Speaker Series.

“The panel discussion will help those interested in building a secondary suite understand the building process - from regulations, to funding, to permits, to construction,” says Chief Planner Braden Smith. “Also known as granny suites or in-law suites, secondary suites can create unique opportunities to provide affordable housing and help homeowners pay down their mortgage.”

Participants will learn about attached and detached secondary suites, building code requirements, zoning considerations, property assessment implications, and details of the Province of Manitoba’s financial incentive program.

Panelists will include:

Shannon Greer, Manager Housing Delivery
Province of Manitoba, The Manitoba Housing and Renewal Corporation
