Winnipeg, MB - A new grant program has been launched to help address the cat overpopulation problem in Winnipeg. As part of the City's cat licensing program that took effect January 1, 2015, 50 per cent of the gross revenue from the program will be directed to the expansion of local cat spay/neuter programs.
The FIXIT Spay/Neuter Grant Program is open to non-profit community organizations, veterinary clinics, animal hospitals and educational institutions, and is designed to assist these groups in running quality programs to spay and neuter high volumes of cats at a low cost to the community.
Grants will be awarded by the City of Winnipeg by December 1 of each year. The deadline to apply for 2015 funding is October 1, 2015.
