Winnipeg, MB - The public is advised that crews will be conducting work on the office tower located at 266 Graham Avenue this summer to secure cladding panels on the exterior of the building.
Heavy winds caused damage to panels on the southeast corner of the tower on January 22, 2015. The panels that appeared compromised were either removed or safely secured with metal strap anchors on an emergency basis.
An engineering assessment was immediately conducted to determine the overall condition of the exterior. It was concluded that further work to secure exterior cladding panels is required. Work like this is not uncommon in buildings built during this era.
A bid opportunity will be posted on the City of Winnipeg’s Materials Management website next week with the goal of having the project take place starting in June. It is expected that the work will take 10 to 12 weeks to complete.
The City is also replacing equipment (transformers) damaged due to a major rain event in August 2014. The equipment affected primarily provides service to the office tower at 266 Graham.
