Winnipeg, MB - Elmwood Kildonans Pool, 909 Concordia Avenue, will reopen on Saturday, May 9, 2015. Regular programming will resume on June 15, and swimming lessons will begin in July. For information on facility hours, please see City of Winnipeg - Elmwood Kildonans Pool.
The facility closed in May 2014 for work to repair extensive damage caused by an electrical fire. During the work to repair fire damage, cracks were detected along the pool tank walls when structural engineers inspected the facility. Further structural work to repair the plaster between the pool tiles and concrete tank walls has now been completed.
Costs to repair the facility as a result of the electrical fire were approximately $1,200,000 as covered by an insurance claim. The structural repairs cost approximately $200,000.
