Statement from Mayor Brian Bowman

Winnipeg, MB - Mayor Bowman issued the following statement on the death of Mr. Amaro Silva, former City Councillor for Daniel McIntyre from 1992 to 1998.

“I am sincerely sorry to hear about the passing of Amaro Silva, former City Councillor for Daniel McIntyre. He was passionate about advocating for Winnipeggers, and served on a number of boards and committees, including the board of directors for Victoria General Hospital, the Committee on Planning and Community Services, the West End Winnipeg Business Improvement Zone Board, and the Winter Cities Association.

Amaro will be remembered as a strong voice for Winnipeg, and we are proud he served as a member of our City Council. On behalf of the City of Winnipeg and my City Council colleagues, we extend our deepest condolences to Amaro’s family at this difficult time.”

Flags at City Hall will remain lowered until further notice.
