Last mandatory quarterly report on progress of recommendations from three major audits received Jan. 2014

Winnipeg, MB - Mayor Brian Bowman today tabled a motion at Executive Policy Committee (EPC) directing the City Auditor to report back to EPC/Audit Committee with an update on the status of the implementation of 50 recommendations accepted by Council as a result of three major audits conducted by external firms: the Fire Paramedic Stations Construction Program Review, the Real Estate Management Review and the Winnipeg Police Service Headquarters Construction Project Audit.

“My top priority is to restore faith and trust in City Hall and the biggest impact I can make on that commitment is to ensure we consistently respect our own processes and procedures,” said Mayor Brian Bowman. “It is critical that we keep the necessary changes and reporting on track to fulfill all recommendations as quickly as possible as this is the key step to ensuring, as a City, we use reliable decision-making processes that Winnipeggers know they can trust.”

Council directed the City Auditor to oversee the implementation of audit recommendations and report back to Council quarterly on progress. The first status report in response to implementation of recommendations was presented to Council January 29th, 2014; no further updates have been considered by Council since that time.

The Auditor’s report to update on the status of recommendation implementation will be considered at the January 21st meeting of EPC.
