Snow clearing and sanding operations continue

Winnipeg, MB - Due to accumulations of snow yesterday evening and overnight, City crews began a snow clearing and sanding operation around midnight. Snow clearing and sanding operations are continuing today as follows:

Priority 1 streets (regional) - Truck plowing operations are continuing across the regional network, sanding operations will continue as conditions warrant.

Priority 2 streets (collector/bus routes) - Operations will move into the collector/bus route network at the completion of the regional truck plow, later this morning. Crews will also be plowing country roads as and where required. Sanding operations will continue as conditions warrant.

Priority 3 streets (residential) - Crews are monitoring the residential road network, areas prone to drifting are being monitored and will be addressed with spot plowing and sanding where required.

Priority 1,2 and 3 sidewalks - A Priority 1 sidewalk plowing operation commenced at 7:00 a.m. and will continue on through the Priority 2 network and Priority 3 networks through to completion.

Backlanes - Lane clearing operations began today at 7:00 a.m.

Snow Disposal Sites are currently open and available for public use.

Citizens are urged drive to conditions and to use caution in and around snow clearing equipment.
