Update on Elmwood Kildonans Pool

Winnipeg, MB - Citizens are advised that the Elmwood Kildonans Pool will remain closed through December and into the New Year to fix an unexpected structural issue. The Elmwood Kildonans Pool was initially closed due to extensive damage caused by an electrical fire this past May.

While the damages related to the fire have been repaired, cracks were detected along the pool tank walls when structural engineers inspected the facility in preparation of re-opening. While the pool tank remains structurally sound, the cracks need to be addressed before the facility can re-open.

A new timeframe for repairs and re-opening is currently being developed.

The Community Services Department will not be offering a winter program at Elmwood Kildonans Pool. Learn to Swim and other aquatic programming will continue to be enhanced at Transcona Centennial Pool.
