Curbside yard waste collection extended for two weeks

Released: November 6, 2014 at 12:30 p.m.

Winnipeg, MB - The curbside yard waste collection program will be extended for two more weeks until November 28, weather permitting. Yard waste will be collected at the curb once every two weeks, on the same collection day as recycling and garbage. Residents can check the final yard waste collection date for their area by visiting City of Winnipeg - Recycling, Garbage and Yard Waste Collection Days or by contacting 311, available 24 hours every day by phone at 311 or by email at 311@winnipeg.ca.

Residents can put their yard waste in:

  • Any reusable container without a lid (e.g. plastic tubs, old blue boxes, old metal or plastic garbage containers). Containers should not be broken or damaged,
  • Cardboard boxes, or
  • Paper yard waste bags (available at many stores).

Plastic bags are not accepted in the program because they do not break down and will ruin the finished compost.

Residents are reminded to place their yard waste containers to the side of their recycling and garbage carts, and to leave an arm’s length between their yard waste containers and their recycling and garbage carts.

Residents can find their yard waste collection dates by:
