Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service goes pink in support of breast cancer awareness

Winnipeg, MB - Throughout October, the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) will participate in initiatives to fundraise for breast cancer awareness by wearing pink t-shirts and pink epaulettes.

“This illness has a profound effect on our communities. Many of us have family and friends who have been affected,” said WFPS Chief John Lane. “This is a great way for the WFPS to participate in a community initiative and support an excellent cause.”

WFPS and other workers in the paramedicine field throughout Manitoba will contribute to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation by purchasing the pink epaulettes through the Paramedics of Manitoba website.

In addition, WFPS will also support other initiatives such as “Movember” and “Mo-Medic” in to raise awareness for prostate cancer and men’s health for the month of November. Members may wear a Movember or Mo-Medic t-shirt, and may participate in the moustache-growing fundraiser for Movember.
