Rehabilitation of Portage Avenue Bridge over Sturgeon Creek progresses

North lanes on Portage to open and south lanes to close on Monday, August 4

Winnipeg, MB - The rehabilitation of Portage Avenue Bridge over Sturgeon Creek will be achieving a major milestone on Monday, August 4 as the project enters its second phase of construction.

Starting at 10:00 a.m., two-way traffic will be diverted from the south lanes to the north lanes of the structure which have been closed since the middle of April. Rehabilitation work will begin immediately on the eastbound bridge deck.

Two lanes of traffic in each direction will be maintained on the north portion of Portage Avenue during this second phase of the project.

During the construction period, access to local businesses will be maintained.

The project is on target for an on-time completion in early November 2014.
