Winnipeg, MB - Celebrate the monarch butterfly and discover how you can help in their conservation at the 7th annual Monarch Butterfly Festival. The Festival takes place at the Living Prairie Museum, 2795 Ness Avenue, on Sunday, July 13, 2014, 12:00 p.m. noon to 4:00 p.m.
This free, family-friendly event will include:

- Butterfly activities for kids: Face painting and butterfly wings turn kids into monarchs.
- Live butterfly displays: Come and learn about monarchs and other local butterflies by seeing the real thing, up close.
- Meet a biologist: Learn about important research, pollinating insects, and endangered species, then have a chat with a local scientist.
- Prairie plant sale: Help your local butterflies by planting native species of wildflowers and grasses. Prairie Flora will help you start a butterfly garden at home.
- Guided prairie hikes: Tour the preserve with a knowledgeable naturalist and learn about the butterflies, plants and animals of the tall grass prairie.
- Storytelling: Don't miss local storyteller and author Joe McLellan for a reading of his popular children’s story Nanabosho and the Butterflies.
