Rehabilitation of Portage Avenue Bridge over Sturgeon Creek commences Sunday

Traffic limited to two lanes in each direction from Ronald Street to Sturgeon Road

Winnipeg, MB - The rehabilitation of Portage Avenue Bridge over Sturgeon Creek commences this Sunday, April 13, 2014. At 10:00 a.m. lanes on the north side of Portage Avenue from Ronald Street to Sturgeon Road will be closed to traffic until August, 2014. Two lanes in each direction will be maintained on the south portion of Portage Avenue during this first phase.

During the second phase of construction, lanes on the south side of Portage Avenue will be closed from August until November 2014 when the project is expected to be complete. Two lanes in each direction will be maintained on the north side of Portage Avenue.

During the construction period, access to local businesses will be maintained.

This project renews the Portage Avenue Bridge, extending its service life for up to 75 years.
