Released: March 31, 2014 at 2:38 p.m.

Winnipeg, MB - The City of Winnipeg has gone mobile with the launch of the new 2014 City of Winnipeg Election mobile app. The free app is available for download on iOS (iPhone, iPod, iPad), Android and BlackBerry devices in both English and French.

The 2014 General Civic Election for the City of Winnipeg will be held on Wednesday, October 22, 2014. Eligible voters have the opportunity to cast ballots for Mayor, Councillors and School Trustees.

The Election app mirrors the election information offered on winnipeg.ca/2014election in a mobile friendly format. It contains everything voters will need to know to successfully cast their ballot in the 2014 municipal election, including: where to vote, who is eligible to vote, and voter identification requirements. Further information such as advance voting locations, the official candidate list, and election day voting locations, will be added as they become available.

The Election app will also be useful for candidates who have questions on the process for running, legislation for campaign signage or campaign expenses, as well as important dates.

“This app will allow voters to stay connected with the election while on the go with the latest news, election results and social media updates. We are happy to have another tool for voters and candidates to stay informed”, said Marc Lemoine, Senior Election Official.

Information regarding the app, and other election information, is available by contacting the City of Winnipeg Contact Centre at 311 or by visiting the City of Winnipeg’s web page winnipeg.ca/2014election.
