Enhancement to Electronic Citizens' Information Service (e-CIS) adds self-serve search capability for residents

Winnipeg, MB - The City of Winnipeg this evening announced the launch of an enhancement to its electronic Citizens' Information Service (e-CIS), to assist citizens in taking proactive measures to prevent frozen water pipes.

When citizens search an address on Electronic Citizens' Information Service - e-CIS they will receive information on whether or not that property is currently identified as being at an increased risk of the City's portion of the water pipe freezing (from the water main to the shut-off valve, usually at the property line).

If an address is on the notification list, e-CIS will display the following:

"This address is currently on the list of properties that have been notified to run their water to prevent the City's portion of the water pipe from freezing. See for more information."

If an address is not on the notification list, e-CIS will display the following:

"This address is NOT currently on the list of properties that have been notified to run their water to prevent the City's portion of the water pipe from freezing. See Frozen Pipes for more information."

The City of Winnipeg's Electronic Citizens' Information Service allows citizens to locate property-related information by either searching on an address or by searching by type of facility. Civic information currently available on e-CIS includes a property's recycling and garbage collection schedule, Snow Zone, and Insect Management Area. e-CIS can be used for many functions and has links to various other departmental and City-wide web pages to provide information to the citizens of Winnipeg.
