Winnipeg, MB - Executive Policy Committee (EPC) today recommended to Council ratification of a negotiated agreement between the City of Winnipeg and the United Fire Fighters of Winnipeg Local 867 (UFFW).
“I am pleased the two negotiating committees have reached an agreement,” said Mayor Sam Katz. “The hard-working men and women of the UFFW perform an essential service in our City and I am happy to reach a negotiated settlement.”
The three-year agreement, from December 2013 to December 2016, includes initial wage adjustments of 2% for 2014 and 2015, an additional 1% for the second half of those years, and 3% in 2016.
The agreement also permits the City of Winnipeg to use temporary employees for the term of the agreement.
The next step in the ratification process is for the Memorandum of Agreement to be considered at the Feb. 26, 2014 meeting of City Council. Members of the UFFW ratified the agreement on Feb. 6, 2014.
